Silverlight/WPF and the tools provided give us the ability to work together in a truly remarkable way; let me explain why:

Back in the days of old, designers had one job; to create graphics.  They would then hand them over to the developers to implement them. This was ok, but it was difficult for designers to contribute once they had handed over their initial designs, especially when the application started to become real and some elements weren't quite right. They were left out of the process.

With these new tools, designers can play a much larger role in the implementation of the interface and let the developers stick to making the juicy code bits work perfectly.  Designers can continue to refine the design and make edits as the app grows over time, and work side by side with the developers all the way to the end of the project.
